India palm oil import posted a rise of 15.23% to 8.321 million tons in the recently concluded marketing year of 2020-21 at end of October compared to the previous year. Soybean oil fell 15.31%, sunflower oil declined by 24.81%, and rapeseed oil inched down 5.45% according to the trade body, Solvent Extractors Association.

Repeat cuts in edible oil import tax and lifting of palm olein import into the country boosted palm oil inflow in 2020-21.

Overall edible and non-edible oil vegetable oil imports were up by a mere 0.23% to 13.531 million tons from 13.500 million a year ago.
