Malaysia August end-month stocks volleyed 25.28% to 1.874 million tons racing to reach 14 months high volume and surpassing the same time last year by 10.02% after production rose at a faster pace while exports and domestic consumption dwindled—MPOB August report showed. Although the data was largely within expectation, the jump in stocks was higher than expectation of 16—17.50% rise, sparking a shift in market sentiment from tight to improving supply and increasing the likelihood of year-end stocks nearing 2 million tons. The most active CPO futures contract November fell 113 points at market close on Friday, erasing all of the gains in the week.
